The Town of Lewisporte is centrally located on the Northeast Coast of Newfoundland. Located in scenic Notre Dame Bay, it has been referred to as the "Caribbean of the North" because of its deep water bays and abundance of islands. Lewisporte is the point of origin for both passenger services and freight shipments between Newfoundland and the coast of Labrador. This is reflected in the Town’s slogan, "Gateway to the North." Lewisporte’s deep water port, open year round, has attracted many businesses, including big names from the oil industry. Lewisporte is the off loading center for aviation fuel supplied to Gander International Airport. The Town’s docking facilities are second to none in Newfoundland.
