Gander International Airport is a full service international airport, which provides all services on a 24 hour basis. It has all the capabilities and infrastructure to handle the world’s largest aircraft. Air Traffic Control, flight services, weather, emergency response, police and Canadian Inspection Services are provided 24 hours daily to ensure safe, secure and efficient operations. Trans Canada Highway

The Trans Canada Highway is the world’s longest national road, extending east-west across the breadth of Canada for 4,860 miles (7,821 km), between Victoria, British Columbia and St. John’s, Newfoundland, linked by car ferries between Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. The Trans Canada Highway (TCH) crosses the island portion of the province of Newfoundland & Labrador from Port-aux-Basques through to St. John’s, a distance totaling 910 kms (565 miles).

Lewisporte Harbour

Geographically and centrally situated in Newfoundland and Labrador, Lewisporte has direct and easy access to all seaports in the province. Lewisporte Harbour is situated on the northeast coast of Newfoundland, 52kms (32 miles) from Gander. Lewisporte’s deep water port is open year-round, has excellent warehousing facilities for storage of freight, and is the offloading centre for aviation fuel supplied to Gander International Airport. The loading terminal is connected to a tank farm with a total capacity of 95,000,000 litres (24,739,583.3 gallons) in sixteen tanks. Tankers are able to access the port at Lewisporte on a year-round basis.

 
Sea Transportation

Marine Atlantic

Marine Atlantic Inc. is a Canadian Federal Crown Corporation that operates ferries across the Cabot Strait between the island of Newfoundland and mainland Canada, according to contracts in place with Transport Canada. Marine Atlantic provides a vital link between the island of Newfoundland and the Canadian mainland. Its modern fleet includes Canada’s two largest superferries; MV Caribou and MV Joseph and Clara Smallwood. It also includes the MV Leif Ericson. Passenger and vehicle service is provided year-round between Port-aux-Basques and North Sydney, with additional service in summer between North Sydney and Argentia. The ferries operate year-round on the 100 nautical mile route between Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland and North Sydney, Nova Scotia and during the summer on the 280 nautical mile route between Argentia, Newfoundland and North Sydney. The company’s vessel operations are certified according to the International Safety Management Code, which ensures highest level discipline relating to safety matters and pollution prevention.
